Fishing in the lakes
To fish in the lakes, you need a national fishing permit. Don't have one? Don't panic, you can get one, even for a day, from the French Federation website HERE. This permit is the first step before you buy your permit for Lac Besson or Lac des Bergers.
Fishing is subject to national regulations. The regulations can be consulted on the internet. Anyone fishing or in the vicinity of a fishing spot with equipment must be able to show their national fishing permit to the fishery warden. There are national daily, weekly, departmental and interdepartmental fishing permits. There are discovery fishing permits for children (under the age of 12 on the first of January of the current year). There are youth fishing permits (over 12 years of age on the first of January of the current year and under 18 years of age on the first of January of the current year). There are also women's fishing permits.

It is reserved for children aged over 6 on the first of January of the current year and under 13 on the first of January of the current year. To fish in the Lac des Bergers, you need a national fishing licence issued by the fishing federation and a local fishing card issued by the Alpe d'Huez fishing association. You are on a 1st category site, 1 line per angler. The number of trout caught is limited to 4 per day per angler. The minimum size is 23 centimetres. All catches must be kept, No Kill is prohibited. Fly fishing is prohibited. Spoon fishing is prohibited. Fishing with rapala is prohibited. Fishing with artificial lures is prohibited. Fishing opens at 6 a.m. and closes at sunset. The lake closes at 4.30pm every Friday from 1st July to 31st August of the current year.
Swimming and water sports are prohibited.

Why is swimming banned?
