Before the grand finale in Paris, the riders of the Tour de France 2026 will tackle the 21 legendary hairpin bends of the world's most famous climb.
Three unforgettable days of sport, excitement, and emotion await spectators and cycling fans alike:
- Sunday, July 19 – L’Étape du Tour (amateur stage)
- Friday, July 24 – Stage 19 : Gap → Alpe d’Huez (128 km)
- Saturday, July 25 – Stage 20 : Bourg d’Oisans → Alpe d’Huez (171 km)
🚴 Sunday 19 July : L’Étape du Tour: amateurs become legends
This is the day for cycling enthusiasts! Thousands of amateur riders will take on the same route as the professionals, in a festive and exhilarating atmosphere.
From the base of the climb to the summit finish, each participant will live their Tour de France dream, cheered on by the crowds and surrounded by the magic of Alpe d’Huez.With every bend, the legs burn, the heart races, and pride grows as riders push closer to the summit of Alpe d’Huez.
🏁 Friday, July 24 – Stage 19 : Gap → Alpe d’Huez (128 km)
Short, intense, and spectacular, stage 19 of the Tour de France 2026 will start in Gap and finish at Alpe d’Huez after 128 km of pure action. The route will include the :
- Col Bayard
- Col du Noyer
- Col d’Ornon
- Before the final climb of the legendary 21 bends (13.8 km at 8.1%).
Explosive and unpredictable, this stage could set the tone ahead of the monumental queen stage to come.
🏔️ Saturday, July 25 – Stage 20 : Bourg d’Oisans → Alpe d’Huez (171 km)
The queen stage of the 2026 Tour de France
The 20th stage, and final mountain showdown, promises to be the ultimate challenge of the Tour.
Over 171 km with a staggering 5,600 m of total elevation gain, the riders will face a legendary sequence of climbs:
- Col de la Croix de Fer (24 km at 5.2%)
- Col du Télégraphe (11.9 km at 7.1%)
- Col du Galibier (17.7 km at 6.9% – the highest point of the 2026 Tour at 2,642 m)
- and finally, an unprecedented ascent to Alpe d’Huez via the Col de Sarenne (12.8 km at 7.3%).

After these two memorable days, the peloton will head to Paris for the final finish on Sunday 26 July 2026.
But it is at Alpe d'Huez, on its legendary hairpin bends, that the Tour will see its final battle, the one that will make all the difference before the Champs-Élysées.
